You know you're doing something right when almost every online food review rates your pizza spot over 4.5 out of 5—and some even give it a perfect 5.0.
Let’s be honest: these days, some pizzerias feel like they’re popping lids off store-bought sauces, slinging the cheapest cheese across the room, and tossing it all on some frozen, flavorless crust. It’s the fast-food revolution, I guess—but it tastes like a meal served after the Titanic sank. I never thought the pizza scene would get this unstable.
Think about it—it’s ideally some of the simplest ingredients: pepperoni, cheese, tomato sauce, and crust. But this proves that even simple ingredients aren’t so simple. Behind every good dish is a cook with a vision to build a memorable recipe. If only every restaurant cared that much.
To be fair, some restaurants have suffered from staff shortages—lingering signs of just how hard the pandemic hit—and overall changes to the dining experience. But no matter how much the world changes, quality and flavor will always divide the men from the boys… or the Hot Pockets from the Amazing slices.
Now imagine having the right skills to satisfy pizza cravings—and the guts to become an entrepreneur to share that skill with the world. That’s exactly what happened with the founder of Zorch Pizza, Rob Zorch.
I knew I liked this guy when I heard the magic words: food truck. Yup! That’s where it all started. And if you know anything about the food truck game, you know most owners are absolutely no joke. Think about it—a tiny work area to prep, store, cook, process payments, and keep supplies stocked. You might as well ask Bruce Lee to pull off flying kicks in a pair of Crocs. Let’s just say, it’s video game final-boss-level difficulty.
So when Rob opened a storefront, it’s no surprise that the place is always buzzing—people drizzling Mike’s Hot Honey on their slices. I know, I didn’t know that was a thing either, but apparently, it’s a whole pizza topping movement.
Back to the pizza.
What initially stood out to me was the variety of fresh slices available—and I mean ready to go as soon as you order. I really appreciated that. There’s nothing worse than having to commit to a whole pizza when you’re just trying it for the first time. That’s like marrying the first TV character you had a crush on at age 8—not knowing the high school chronicles haven’t even started yet. Can you say hashtag regrets?
Fortunately, that’s not the case at Zorch Pizza.
Here’s what I had—and would recommend again:
A Traditional Pepperoni Pizza Slice
My Review: Let’s start with the undercarriage—it was nicely browned and had a great crisp. They understood the assignment, and no limp slices here. The sauce complimented the cheese, and of course, the pepperoni finished the job. I have to say, I love the crispy, buckled pepperoni—not the cheap, flat pork circles with basic flavor you see elsewhere. Great job!

A Buffalo Chicken Pizza Slice
My Review: This slice right here? It was definitely a young Jedi using the power of The Force for you Star Wars fanatics. It was delicious and jam-packed with flavor. It’s like hot wings and pizza signed a border agreement—and now cross paths every day. The flavors bounce off each other so well. Then they top it off with a blue cheese sauce—and that combo had me taking breaks just to savor it. It was so good; I grabbed a guy outside and treated him to a slice just to confirm my mouth wasn’t lying to me. He confirmed—it’s killer!

So congratulations, Rob. With dedication like this, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a chain of Zorch Pizza shops across the country. And if not, the community better make sure this spot stays open—for generations to come and more pies to slice!
